The University of Miami Law School has a varied and demanding curriculum, a highly productive faculty, and graduate programs as well as the JD program. The Law Library staff prides itself in providing a very high level of in-depth reference and research support. The reference department teaches over 200 classes and responds to tens of thousands of reference questions every year. Reference/Instructional Services Librarian

Responsibilities:
Coordinates library participation in the First Year Legal Research and Writing classes (tours, training, etc.)
Responsible for creating and organizing legal research training opportunities for upper-class students, law review members, and other student groups
Participates in teaching the Legal Research and Writing classes and other library-sponsored classes
Provides reference assistance to law students and faculty, the University of Miami community, members of the bar and the public
Possibility of teaching an advanced legal research course as an Adjunct
Prepares library publications, such as guides and bibliographies
Belongs to professional associations and participates in their activities
Some evening and weekend work is required
Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

M.L.S. (or foreign equivalent) and J.D. (or foreign equivalent) from accredited institutions; excellent organizational and teaching skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong service philosophy; desire to participate as an enthusiastic team player; hard working and flexible; able to work in a fast-paced environment with people from varied backgrounds; willing to take initiative.


Salary and Benefits:

Commensurate with qualifications and experience; comprehensive benefits package. This is non-tenure track faculty appointment.

Reference/Internal Instructional Services Librarian

Responsibilities:
Develop, plan and coordinate librarian and staff training; chair the Staff Development Committee;
Produce the "Baron Banter," the law library's monthly internal newletter;
Responsible for the organization of the Reference Desk, including the maintenance of ready reference and other documentation;
Create and implement library services geared to particular law school departments;
Develop, plan and coordinate (with Reference/Faculty Research Librarian) Faculty Assistant training;
Be the point person for use of Law Library for non-law school departments and programs;
Provide reference assistance to law students and faculty, the University of Miami community, members of the bar and the public;
Participates in teaching the First Year Legal Research and Writing classes and other classes
Responsible for faculty research requests as needed;
Create library publications, such as guides, bibliographies and newsletter articles;
Some evening and weekend hours required
Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

M.L.S. from an ALA-accredited institution (or foreign equivalent), and either a J.D. (or foreign equivalent) from accredited institution or 4 years relevant library experience. Also, excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong service philosophy; desire to participate as an enthusiastic team player; hard working and flexible; able to work in a fast-paced environment with people from varied backgrounds; willing to take initiative.
