Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is registration required to attend the workshops?
No, registration is not required. Feel free to drop in on the day of the workshop. Sign-in sheets will be available to record student attendance. You must sign in to get credit towards earning a library workshop certificate.

  • Can I attend virtually instead of in-person?
Not at this time, but the workshops are recorded if you cannot attend in person. Each session is recorded and posted on the law library’s website for later viewing. Recordings for the current series will be available above. If you want to view a recording of an older workshop, look at the Materials From Previous Training Sessions link.

  • How many workshops do I need to attend to earn the library certification?
You can earn the certification if you attend 4 of the 8 workshops offered. You must attend in person, and viewing recordings does not count for attendance purposes.

  • Can I attend a mix of Fall and Spring workshops to earn the certification?
No, the certification requires attendance at 4 workshops within the same series (either Fall or Spring). You do not need to attend 4 weeks in a row. You can pick and choose 4 sessions out of 8 available.

  • Are LLM students, SJD students, and MLS students eligible to attend the workshops?
All currently enrolled students are welcome to attend the workshops.

  • How can I track how many workshops I have attended this semester?
Please feel free to send an email to Kelsey Renz to check your attendance record.

  • How will I be notified if I earn a certificate
You will be notified by email. When the certificates are ready, they will be held at the Law Library Reference Desk for pick-up.

  • Can I receive a digital version of the certificate for LinkedIn?
The certificate is only available in print. However, you can scan and upload the printed certificate as media on LinkedIn.
