Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is there any registration required to attend the workshops?
No registration is required. Attendees can show up at the workshop location. Sign-in sheets will be available to record attendance.

  • Are the workshops available online or via Zoom?
The workshops are conducted in person only, but each session is recorded and posted on the law library’s website for later viewing. Unfortunately, viewing the recordings does not count toward the certificate eligibility. (The recordings for this semester are linked above. Previous workshop recordings are available here.)

  • What happens if I miss a workshop? Can I still earn the Library-Certified Research Scholar Certification?
You can still earn the certificate if you attend 5 of the 9 workshops offered. Recordings of missed workshops are available on the website, but viewing them does not count toward the attendance requirement.

  • How long after a session will the recording be available on the website?
Recordings are typically posted on this page a few days after the workshop. The recordings from the previous semester will be moved to the Materials from Previous Training Sessions page at the end beginning of the next semester.

  • Can I attend a mix of Fall and Spring workshops to earn the certification?
No, the certification requires attendance of 5 workshops within the same series (either Fall or Spring). Watching recorded content or attending across different series does not fulfill the requirement.

  • How can I track how many workshops I have attended?
Please feel free to send an email to Elaine Tornes Blanco to check your attendance record.

  • Can I attend workshops towards the end of the series and still be eligible for the Library-Certified Research Scholar Certification?
Yes, as long as you attend 5 workshops in the series, you will be eligible for the Library-Certified Research Scholar Certification. The certificates are ready for pick-up shortly after the Fall semester concludes.

  • Can I receive a digital version of the certificate to post on LinkedIn?
The certificate is only available in print. However, you can scan and upload the printed certificate as media on LinkedIn.

  • Are LLM students eligible to attend the workshops?
LLM students are welcome to attend the workshops.
