The University of Miami School of Law Library is open for use by alumni, all University of Miami students, faculty and staff, and others doing legal research, although some restrictions are observed during exam periods.

Circulation & Reserves

Most of the material in the Law Library does not circulate.

Circulation privileges are only extended to Law School Faculty and Students, UM Graduate students and UM faculty. In order to check out material, you must have your Cane Card with a Law Library barcode affixed to the back.

Books check out for 28 days although many of our books do not circulate at all. Renewal may be made by telephone or in person for an additional 28 days if the material has not been requested by another patron. Reserve items circulate for 2 hours, but some Reserve items may be removed from the Library overnight.

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan or ILL, locates, for Law School Faculty & Students, materials that either are not a part of this Library's collection, or are not readily available.

The ILL staff borrows these requested materials from other Public, Private & University Libraries. The Interlibrary Loan Request Form is available on the web. Interlibrary Loan is located in the back of the 1st floor, South side, behind the elevator. Their telephone number is 305-284-3728.

Zoom Rooms

Room D236 has been set aside as a Zoom room whenever there are no classes in that room.  The seats are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Students must use headphones or earbuds while in these rooms.
