The Mayer S. Leiter Judaic Collection in the University of Miami Law Library includes English language books, journals and other materials concerning Jewish Law. The collection was inspired by Mayer S. Leiter, a 2002 graduate of the University of Miami School of Law, who envisioned a collection that would enhance his fellow students' study of law through application of Halakha (Jewish Law).
In his memory, friends and family of Mayer S. Leiter established the "Mayer S. Leiter Judaic Collection and Research Area," which was dedicated in January 2005. The Law Library has been able to expand its collection of materials on Jewish Law to include many more sources such as the Mishna, Shulchan Aruch, the Talmud, and the Code of Maimonides. The Collection also contains materials explaining the history and principles of Jewish Law and supports comparative research and study between Jewish Law and other legal systems and traditions.
